statement

Orientation, bifurcation, and repetition are the results of my interest in the palindrome.  The object (gong) begins, follows a specific set of rules throughout its body, and repeats back to the beginning.  The rules of observation are governed by cuts (slits) that pierce through the work.  Observation must be active from varying perspective points as the viewer moves around the work.  I construct this process to subvert gestalt and to push my interest in observation / perspective relationships.
